We are really glad to announce that PHP v5.4 is now supported by our Linux Hosting Servers. PHP v5.4 will be available with all our Single Domain, Multi Domain Linux Hosting and Linux Reseller Hosting plans, along with support for the older PHP versions. This new version, which is released nearly after three years from its last update, brings about a ton of improvements. PHP has also discontinued a few old features within this version. For the amount of time taken for this update to get to the market, there were rumors that it will be called PHP 6.0. But PHP surprised everyone by calling it PHP v5.4
This new version is fairly simple to get started with and comes with a bag of interesting features. Here are some FAQs related to the PHP v5.4, which will help get you started.
Q. How do I use PHP v5.4 on our Linux servers?
You need to create a blank file named usealtphp54 and place it in the Home Directory (/home/<directory-name>) of your cPanel hosting package.
Q. What happens if there are both files usealtphp54 and usealtphp (PHP v5.3) in the home folder for a package?
It will pick up usealtphp54 by default and sets the PHP version to 5.4 for that package.
